About The Position

Join our Long-Term Care team in a PRN role. Enjoy additional compensation with night and weekend shift differentials, plus holiday pay at 1.5 times your regular rate. This role assists nurses in providing nursing care under the direct supervision of an RN, performing activities of daily living for residents.

Requirements

  • High School education or equivalent.
  • Training in an approved 75-hour nurse aide course or equivalent training.
  • Successful completion of BCLS within 3 months of employment.
  • Maintains a courteous and professional manner in dealing with patients, visitors, physicians and co- workers, as applicable.
  • Shows a positive attitude toward work schedules, department and hospital changes, assignments and other personnel.
  • Presents professional appearance in dress and grooming, complies with departmental dress requirements and wears hospital identification badge.
  • Conforms to hospital policy regarding use of sick time, personal days, notification of absence or tardiness.
  • Is cost effective in utilization of time, equipment and supplies.
  • Willingly cooperates with co-workers and other departments.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with bathing, feeding, and caring of patients according to the level of skill and as directed by a nurse.
  • Reports all significant information to nurse in charge of the patient.
  • Works with other health care personnel within the organization.
  • Does cleaning of patient units, equipment, and nursing service areas.
  • Keeps Nurse informed of care rendered and duties performed.
  • Answers call lights and alarms promptly.
  • Delivers patient trays, assists in feeding patients, when necessary, records amount eaten and returns trays to kitchen.
  • Fills out and collects intake and output slips at end of shift.
  • Gives verbal report to nurse in charge at end of shift.
  • Takes TPR's and assists with weighing patients as assigned.
  • Assist with transferring patients by wheelchair or cart to other departments. Uses an assisted lift devise such as a gait belt or mechanical lift if indicated. Participates as a member of only a safe lifting team.
  • Complies with hospital and nursing service policies.
  • Attends staff meetings and in-service education when appropriate.
  • Demonstrates willingness to support staffing and scheduling needs.
  • Performs functions other than described above due to extenuating circumstances.
