About The Position

Perform basic patient care. Observe and report abnormal occurrences or changes in patient condition. Clean, stock and maintain supplies for the patient unit. Assist in admission of patients to the unit including orientation to the unit, hospital routine and patient care equipment. Respond to needs of patients with direct assistance when able or by reporting patient need to appropriate person. Assist with implementation of nursing care plan by carrying out delegated patient care tasks. Assist in maintaining patient safety including proper use of equipment and supplies. Access to medication/supply room to retrieve patient care items for patient care use as applicable per unit. Maintain well-stocked, clean patient environment. Actively participate in cost containment and assist in accurate charging for patient services. Participate in educational and Performance Improvement activities. Perform additional skills, which may include, but are not limited to, phlebotomy, 12 lead EKG, waived lab testing per unit competency. Actively demonstrate responsibility concerning customer satisfaction, patient throughput and hospital functional capacity through compliance with the Hospital Innovation Project (HIP). Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Nursing Assistant II certification required
  • Current Nursing Assistant II registration with North Carolina Board of Nursing required
  • Nursing Assistant I with the Division of Facility Services required
  • Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking the English language
  • Excellent guest relations skills
  • Verbal and written skills required
  • Ability to accept supervision from a multidisciplinary team
  • Flexible approach to work tasks and schedules
  • Able to grasp new skills and techniques
  • Has basic knowledge of age-specific considerations for patients served
  • Has basic computer skills
  • Ability to work variable shifts
  • Ability to turn and lift patients
  • Much standing, walking, bending and lifting
  • Possess visual and auditory acuity for observing patients
  • Must be able to lift 35 pounds
  • BLS - American Heart Association
  • CNA - NC Nursing Assistant Registry
