About The Position

14C Medicine is a 31-bed acute care medicine unit serving patients aged 18-100+ with a variety of medical, acute care, and some cardiac diagnoses. The unit provides interventions such as IV fluids, tube feedings, pain management, respiratory care (including tracheostomies and stable ventilators), cystic fibrosis care, antibiotic administration, diabetes management, heart failure care, endocarditis therapy, detox, and behavioral/crisis management. 14C also admits psychiatric patients with medical issues that cannot be managed on the inpatient psychiatric unit, including those on court holds, with suicidal ideation, or other psychiatric diagnoses with an overlaying medical condition. This requires frequent monitoring, documentation, assessment, and knowledgeable medication management. The unit prides itself on teamwork and collaboration with patients, families, and the care team, with the patient at the center of all activities. Standard procedures ensure a high-quality, consistent patient experience. 14C is part of the medicine teaching service and welcomes contributions from students and professionals in various fields, including physicians, nurses, and pharmacists. The unit also supports the growth of healthcare knowledge through research and participation in studies.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Oregon CNA1 Certification at time of hire
  • BLS from AHA required. New hires will be enrolled and required to complete during orientation.

Nice To Haves

  • 1 year+ CNA experience in a hospital setting

Responsibilities

  • Assist with admitting and discharge
  • Obtain accurate vital signs and weight
  • Complete all unit specific CNA documentation in the patient’s medical record related to: admissions, daily care, vital signs, weight, intake and output, discharge, etc.
  • Assist the patient with any and all basic hygiene, lifting, transport, dietary support, and other personal needs and medical necessities
  • Support patient and family centered care
  • Report potential compliance problems as outlined in the Code of Conduct
  • Model ethical and appropriate behavior, professional standards, compliance, and personal integrity
