About The Position

This position is for a Certified Nursing Assistant or Nursing Assistant on the Cardiac and Stroke Unit at Bellevue Medical Center. This 36-bed unit provides specialty care for cardiac and stroke patients, including those on cardiac drips, heart failure patients, and post-stroke care with telemetry. The unit utilizes a Care Pair Model, pairing a nurse with a CNA to collaborate in caring for 5-6 patients as a team. This model aims to improve staff and patient satisfaction, enhance quality data (like CHG bathing), and decrease call light usage. The CNA's role in this model allows for more focused care on activities of daily living (bathing, ambulation, etc.) due to lower patient ratios compared to traditional models.

Requirements

• Minimum of 16 years of age required (for CNA).
• Certified Nursing Assistant certification in the state of Nebraska required (for CNA).
• Demonstrated effective communication skills required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of hire required, must be from an American Heart Association (AHA) endorsed program (effective for new hires starting January 1, 2023 or later).
• Minimum of 18 years of age required (for Nursing Assistant).
• High school education or equivalent required (for Nursing Assistant).
• Six months experience in patient care required or must be enrolled in nursing program (for Nursing Assistant).

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge of computer data entry and word processing preferred.
• Basic knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
• Direct patient care experience preferred (for Nursing Assistant).

Responsibilities

• Perform delegated patient activities as assigned by licensed nursing personnel for the achievement of patient`s plan of care.
