About The Position

This position is for a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Nursing Assistant (NA) in the Cardiac Care Unit - Post Cardiac Surgery (CCUPCS). This unit is a 21-bed unit that serves as a bridge between intensive care and med-surg units. Patients on this unit require a high intensity of nursing care and a high level of surveillance for conditions such as ventricular assist devices, heart or lung transplants, artificial hearts, complicated post-cardiac surgical patients, specialized care in cardiac drips, external pacing, and SWANs. Requirements

  • Minimum of 16 years of age required (for CNA).
  • Possesses a Certified Nursing Assistant certification in the state of Nebraska (for CNA).
  • Demonstrated effective communication skills required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification endorsed by the American Heart Association (AHA) upon completion of unit orientation required (for CNA).
  • Minimum of 18 years of age required (for NA).
  • High school education or equivalent required (for NA).
  • Six months experience in patient care required or must be enrolled in nursing program (for NA).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of hire required, must be from an American Heart Association (AHA) endorsed program (effective for new hires starting January 1, 2023 or later) (for NA).

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of computer data entry and word processing preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
  • Direct patient care experience preferred (for NA).
