About The Position

This position is for the Solid Organ Transplant Unit (SOTU), Nebraska’s only solid organ transplant unit. This 36-bed med-surg unit provides care to adult pre- and post-liver, kidney, pancreas, intestinal and islet cell transplant patients. It also houses the Intestinal Rehab Program, the busiest intestinal transplant program in the U.S. Staff care for patients from around the world and have opportunities for growth through unit teamwork, patient complexity, and relationship building. The role involves performing delegated patient activities as assigned by licensed nursing personnel for the achievement of the patient's plan of care.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 16 years of age required (for CNA role).
  • Possesses a Certified Nursing Assistant certification in the state of Nebraska (for CNA role).
  • Demonstrated effective communication skills required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of hire required, must be from an American Heart Association (AHA) endorsed program (effective for new hires starting January 1, 2023 or later).
  • Minimum of 18 years of age required (for Nursing Assistant role).
  • High school education or equivalent required (for Nursing Assistant role).
  • Six months experience in patient care required or must be enrolled in nursing program (for Nursing Assistant role).

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of computer data entry and word processing preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
  • Direct patient care experience preferred (for Nursing Assistant role).
