About The Position

The Step-Down Critical Care Unit (SDCC) is a 12-bed specialized unit caring for patients who require intermediate/progressive and intensive levels of care. The unit provides expert care for complex medical, surgical, trauma, transplant, pulmonary, and cardiovascular patients, including those recovering from cardiac and vascular procedures. Through collaboration between Critical Care Intensivists and nursing staff, the SDCC delivers patient- and family-centered care with a focus on safety, quality, and clinical excellence. This role involves performing delegated patient activities as assigned by licensed nursing personnel for the achievement of the patient's plan of care.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 16 years of age required (for CNA).
  • Possesses a Certified Nursing Assistant certification in the state of Nebraska (for CNA).
  • Demonstrated effective communication skills required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of hire required, must be from an American Heart Association (AHA) endorsed program (effective for new hires starting January 1, 2023 or later).
  • Minimum of 18 years of age required (for Nursing Assistant).
  • High school education or equivalent required (for Nursing Assistant).
  • Six months experience in patient care required or must be enrolled in nursing program (for Nursing Assistant).

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of computer data entry and word processing preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
  • Direct patient care experience preferred (for Nursing Assistant).
