Certified Nursing Assistant, Labor & Delivery - 32 Hours, Evenings (BMC South)
About The Position
Under the direct supervision of the Registered Nurse assigned, performs a variety of direct patient care activities in caring for the personal needs and comforts of the patient. Provides care that addresses the specific needs of age groups from infant to elderly as well as accommodating a variety of needs specific to impairments such as hearing, sight, substance abuse, language barriers, and potential victims of abuse. Incorporates knowledge and understanding of our commitment to patient rights, exceptional care and the hospital's values and mission into his/her performance of job duties. Maintains patient privacy and confidentiality at all times. Perform duties specific to labor and delivery such as, but not limited to setting up delivery tables, giving babies baths, and observing sterile techniques.
Requirements
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English with staff and patients.
- Ability to prioritize multiple requests to ensure timeliness and provide exceptional patient care.
- Skills to be compassionate, empathetic, and responsive to patient needs.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- One year of nursing assistance experience in a hospital setting.
- Valid Massachusetts Certified Nursing Assistant license or proof of enrollment in accredited nursing school and completion of Fundamentals of Nursing I & II.
- Active Basic Life Support Certification from American Heart Association.
