The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) - Med/Surg Onc FT position at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center involves assisting Registered Nurses (RNs) with the daily care of patients on the Med Surg: IU 541 unit. This role is full-time, working 36 hours per week on day shifts, with three 12-hour shifts from 7 am to 7 pm, including alternating weekends and holidays. The position requires accurate documentation in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR), performing purposeful rounding, and participating in patient admission, transfer, and discharge processes under RN supervision. The CNA will also be responsible for specimen collection, maintaining nursing area stock, cleaning equipment, and performing patient positioning and transporting duties. Additionally, the role involves assisting with nutritional needs, maintaining skin integrity, ensuring special patient supplies are provided, and potentially performing tasks such as removing IVs, providing post-mortem care, and bladder scans under RN direction. Practice must adhere to infection prevention policies, including hand hygiene and knowledge of sterile and aseptic procedures. The CNA must demonstrate knowledge of age-appropriate care and principles of growth and development.
