The primary purpose of the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) is to perform various resident care activities related to nursing principles and standards to meet the health, welfare, and safety of the residents. The position also performs related non-professional services necessary to meet the physical, psychological, social, emotional, and religious needs of the residents.

Requirements

  • Continuing possession of certificate issued by the State Department of Health Nurse Aide Certification Program.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Must be able to read, write, understand and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Must have the ability to develop and maintain patience and tact with residents.
  • Basic computer knowledge preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform nursing duties and responsibilities relevant to routine bedside nursing care for example: bathing, feeding, dressing, undressing residents, personal hygiene, ambulation, TPR's, BP's, etc.
  • Maintain simple records as related directly to the resident care plan.
  • Communicate all unusual or serious conditions or incidents or any significant changes to the nurse supervisor.
  • Provide nutritional needs to the residents such as feeding, providing fresh drinking water, reporting eating habits of residents to nurse supervisor, as well as recording food and fluid intake as directed.
  • Practice effective customer service relations with staff, residents, volunteers, and visitors.
