This is a part-time Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) position for the weekends only, specifically on the Respiratory Unit at Aurora St. Lukes Medical Center. The role involves assisting Registered Nurses (RNs) with the daily care of patients, including bathing, oral hygiene, feeding, and ambulation. The CNA will also be responsible for measuring and documenting vital signs, intake and output, and patient data in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR). The position requires active participation in patient admissions, transfers, and discharges, ensuring patient call lights are always accessible and promptly answered. The CNA will collect specimens, maintain nursing area stock, clean equipment, and perform patient positioning and transporting duties. Tasks related to nutritional needs and skin integrity will also be performed under the direction of the RN. Depending on unit requirements, the CNA may assist with tasks such as removing IVs, providing post-mortem care, and performing bladder scans. Adherence to infection prevention policies, including hand hygiene and aseptic procedures, is crucial. The role requires the ability to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served, demonstrating knowledge of growth and development principles.
