About The Position

Under the direction of a Registered Nurse, the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) assumes responsibility for data collection related to patient status, performs basic nursing procedures, and conducts ongoing documentation of patient data. This role involves assisting with treatments, procedures, and the maintenance of patient care equipment. All team members are expected to embody Prisma Health's purpose: Inspire health. Requirements

  • Completion of a nursing assistant program preferred.
  • No previous experience required.

Responsibilities

  • Assists patients with activities of daily living and hygiene.
  • Turns and repositions patients alone or with assistance.
  • May transport patients and assist with walking.
  • Assists adult/pediatric patients with toileting needs in relation to their age, including emptying established colostomy bags and urinary catheter removal.
  • Assists with fall prevention interventions and patient restraints as delegated.
  • Removes and reapplies anti-emboli hose or compression devices.
  • Assists with the admission of patients to the unit by preparing the room, greeting, and orienting the patient and/or family to the unit (bed, call light, phone, TV).
  • Takes and records vital signs and repeats questionable values.
  • Prepares patients for meals and assists in feeding and providing snacks and supplements.
  • Collects urine, stool, and sputum specimens.
  • Delivers specimens to the appropriate department as requested.
  • Completes documentation in EMR in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Maintains cleanliness and order of the hospital room, utility room, diet kitchen, hallways, and alcoves.
  • Disposes of excess linen and keeps linen emptied.
  • Performs point of care testing as trained and delegated by RN.
  • Reports lab values to RN.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
