About The Position

NaphCare is seeking to hire a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) to join their team of medical professionals in the Camden Community Work Center in Camden, Alabama. As a Correctional CNA, you will work under the supervision of a registered nurse alongside correctional officers and other medical professionals to provide care to the individuals in residence. This unique position allows you to make a difference to a diverse population of patients with complex medical needs within a controlled environment where security is a top priority. Duties include assisting physicians and other healthcare professionals with examinations, taking patient histories, and vital signs, and supporting administrative tasks.

Requirements

  • CNA Certification - Completion of an accredited CNA training program and passing a state-approved competency exam.
  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • Must pass the facility’s criminal background check and drug screening.
  • Able to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information.
  • Display integrity, professionalism, and be able to adhere to a Code of Conduct and comply with all facility(s) correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • Be able to obtain CPR and first aid certification, may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with performing patient assessments, interviewing patients about current health problems, and medication history.
  • Take vital signs including blood pressure, temperature, respiration, and weight.
  • Perform routine procedures under established protocols (to include but not limited to phlebotomy, EKG’s, dressing changes and wound cultures).
  • Document medical history including medications, treatment, and medical conditions.
  • Assist with Activities of Daily Living (ADL) skills including bathing, dressing, feeding, and mobility.
  • Provide basic wound care, basic laboratory tests, and basic patient education and instructions.
  • Observe and report changes in patients’ physical or mental health to nurses.
