About The Position

Actors Fund Home, an assisted living, skilled nursing, accredited dementia care and sub-acute rehabilitation center located in Englewood, NJ, and a recipient of a CMS Five Star Rating seeks a Full time 3pm-11:30pm Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA). In this role, the CNA will be responsible for providing daily routine non-professional nursing care and basic technical nursing care under the direction and supervision of the professional nursing staff.

Requirements

  • Must have an active NJ Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification and must maintain active certification.
  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent certification.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English.
  • Possess effective interpersonal skills in working with residents, co- workers, families and various health professionals.
  • Be adaptable to change and able to meet crisis and emergencies.
  • Ability to work independently and problem solve with minimal supervision.
  • Must have an understanding of, affection for, and a desire to work with the aging.

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to lift, move and carry supplies and equipment.
  • Must be able to pass the facility’s physical examination upon employment and annually thereafter.

Responsibilities

  • Provide care to residents in all aspects of personal care and hygiene; keep each resident clean, well-groomed and as comfortable as possible.
  • Assist residents with their ADLs (activities of daily living), such as transfers, bathing, hygiene, grooming, toileting, etc.; encourage self-help and independence whenever possible.
  • Assist professional staff in rendering treatments and examining residents in isolation, dying or deceased.
  • Assist in arranging transportation, reminding residents of appointments, accompanying residents to appointments or programs as needed.
  • Assist residents in preparing for medical tests (i.e. lab work, x-ray, therapy, etc.) and collect specimens as instructed.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of residents’ Care Plans.
  • Answer all call bells promptly.
  • Maintain residents' privacy and confidentiality; ensure that all residents are treated fairly and with kindness, dignity and respect.
  • Report all resident changes in condition or unusual findings as well as incidents and accidents promptly to the nurse on duty.
