The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) will assist the Registered Nurse (RN) with the daily care of patients in the SICU (Surgical Intensive Care Unit). This includes tasks such as bathing, oral hygiene, feeding, assisting with activity orders and ambulation, measuring vital signs, documenting patient data in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR), and participating in patient admissions, transfers, and discharges. The CNA will also be responsible for ensuring patient call lights are within reach and answered promptly, collecting specimens, maintaining nursing area stock, cleaning equipment, and performing patient positioning and transporting duties. Additional tasks may include assisting with nutritional needs, maintaining skin integrity, providing post-mortem care, bladder scans, and adhering to infection prevention policies. The role requires the ability to provide age-appropriate care and demonstrate knowledge of growth and development principles.
