About The Position

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), also known as a State Registered Nurse Assistant (SRNA), provides direct and indirect patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse (RN) or other licensed care team member. The role emphasizes providing excellent patient care with empathy, compassion, communication, and teamwork, respecting human dignity and the uniqueness of each individual. This position involves assisting patients with personal hygiene, bowel and bladder functions, recording intake and output, collecting specimens, managing linens, maintaining a clean patient environment, and assisting with patient activity and repositioning. The CNA is responsible for communicating pertinent patient information to the nurse and setting priorities for the care of multiple patients.

Requirements

  • Current Kentucky Nurse Aide Certification required or successful completion of first year of a Nursing program and validation of a clinical rotation consistent with level of education.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Basic Life Support (must be obtained within 30 days of hire)

Responsibilities

  • Assist patients in personal hygiene activities such as bathing, dental and oral care, hair, and nail care.
  • Assist patients with bowel and bladder functions while maintaining dignity.
  • Records patient intake and output (I & O).
  • Collects, labels, and transports specimens for laboratory analysis.
  • Changes and transports soiled and contaminated linens according to procedure.
  • Maintains clean and tidy patient room/environment.
  • Assist patients with activity, turning and repositioning as indicated by provider order and in collaboration with the nurse.
  • Communicates pertinent patient information/findings to patient’s nurse.
  • Sets priorities for the care of multiple patients.
