About The Position

Prometheus Federal Services (PFS) is seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) to work on-site at the Veterans Affairs Palo Alto Health Care System in Palo Alto, CA. The role involves providing a range of services comparable to a state-of-the-art civilian medical treatment facility, adhering to national standards of care. The CNA will interact with patients, physicians, nursing staff, other VA employees, and patient family members, implementing care plans and collaborating with the healthcare team. Responsibilities include the care and use of equipment, patient and family teaching, assisting patients with daily living activities, and managing patient admissions, transfers, and discharges. The position requires delivering safe, basic physical and emotional care, adhering to VA policies, patient safety, infection control standards, and maintaining patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and VA policies. Accurate documentation in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) and attendance at staff meetings are also required. Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED
Completion of an accredited Nursing Assistant training course.
Active / Unrestricted CNA license in the state of California.
Active BLS Card
Proven ability to speak, understand, read, and write English fluently
Authorized to work in the U.S. indefinitely without sponsorship.
Ability to obtain public trust.

Responsibilities

Interface with patients, Physicians, Nursing staff, other VA staff employees and patient family members.
Implement the plan of care demonstrating knowledge of the responsibilities of the Nursing Assistant for all stages of care.
Work in partnership with the health care team in implementing standards of care in accordance with the purpose, philosophy and objectives of nursing.
Responsible for care and use of equipment used.
Provide family and patient teaching.
Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADL’s), including feeding, grooming, bathing, dressing, toileting, etc.
Assist with patient admissions, transfers and discharges including escorting using stretcher, wheelchair or other mobility device as needed.
Deliver safe, basic physical and emotional care to patients and/or residents with simple to complex needs.
Adhere to all VA policies, procedures and professional standards of care.
Follow all established patient safety and infection control standards of care.
Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and VA policies.
Document care accurately in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
Attend staff meetings as required by the VA facility Chief of Service, Nursing Executive, or designee.
Other duties as assigned.
