The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) provides direct and indirect resident care activities under the direction of a licensed nurse. This role involves a variety of duties to ensure resident comfort, safety, and well-being, as well as maintaining a clean and organized environment. The CNA is expected to comply with all community and nursing department policies and procedures, treat all individuals with dignity and respect, and maintain confidentiality. This position requires good working relationships with co-workers and other departments, and punctual attendance. The CNA will assist with resident admissions and discharges, daily personal care (oral hygiene, bathing, grooming), maintaining resident dryness and cleanliness, making beds, assisting with bowel and bladder functions, collecting specimens, preparing residents for activities, and transporting residents. They will also assist with lifting, turning, moving, positioning, and transporting residents, as well as assisting with ambulation and mobility using gait belts. Documentation of resident vital signs and changes in condition is also a key responsibility. The CNA will prepare and serve meals, assist with feeding, distribute nourishments, and provide care for dying residents and post-mortem care. They will also organize resident rooms, manage soiled linens, complete required documentation, and provide shift reports.
