This position assists the Registered Nurse (RN) with the daily care of patients, including bathing, oral hygiene, feeding, activity orders, and ambulation. The CNA is responsible for measuring and documenting vital signs and patient data, performing purposeful rounding, and participating in patient admission, transfer, and discharge processes. The role also involves collecting specimens, performing point-of-care testing, completing errands, maintaining stock, cleaning equipment, and performing patient positioning and transporting duties. Additionally, the CNA assists with nutritional needs, maintains skin integrity, and may perform tasks such as removing IVs, providing post mortem care, and bladder scans under RN direction. Adherence to infection prevention policies, including hand hygiene and aseptic procedures, is crucial. The CNA must demonstrate knowledge and skills appropriate for the age of the patients served, understanding principles of growth and development.
