The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Float Pool PRN Days position at Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital is a part-time role within the Nursing Float Pool. This role requires a minimum commitment of four 12-hour shifts in a 6-week period, including one spring/summer holiday and one fall/winter holiday. The CNA will assist the Registered Nurse (RN) with the daily care of patients, including bathing, oral hygiene, feeding, activity orders, and ambulation. Responsibilities also include measuring and documenting vital signs and patient data, accurately documenting in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR), performing purposeful rounding, and participating in patient admission, transfer, and discharge processes under RN supervision. The CNA will ensure patient call lights are within reach and answered promptly, collect specimens, and perform point-of-care testing. Additionally, the role involves completing errands, maintaining stock for the nursing area, cleaning equipment and work areas, and performing patient positioning and transporting duties that require lifting and pushing/pulling. The CNA will also assist with nutritional needs and skin integrity maintenance, provide special patient supplies, and may be required to remove IVs, provide post mortem care, and perform bladder scans under RN direction. Practice within infection prevention policies, including hand hygiene and knowledge of sterile and aseptic procedures, is essential. The position requires the ability to provide age-appropriate care, demonstrating knowledge of growth and development across the life span.
