The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Float Pool FT position assists the Registered Nurse (RN) with the daily care of patients. This role involves direct patient care activities such as bathing, oral hygiene, feeding, and assisting with ambulation and transfers. The CNA will also be responsible for measuring and documenting vital signs, intake and output, and patient data in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR). They will perform purposeful rounding, participate in patient admissions, transfers, and discharges, and collect specimens for testing. Additionally, the CNA will complete various errands, maintain nursing supplies, and ensure the cleanliness of equipment and work areas. This role requires performing patient positioning and transporting duties, which involve lifting and pushing/pulling, and assisting with nutritional needs and skin integrity. Depending on site/unit requirements and under RN direction, the CNA may also perform tasks such as removing IVs, providing post-mortem care, and performing bladder scans. Adherence to infection prevention policies, including hand hygiene and aseptic procedures, is crucial. The position requires the ability to provide age-appropriate care, demonstrating knowledge of growth and development across the lifespan.
