This is a full-time Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) position within the Nursing Float Pool at Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital. The role involves assisting Registered Nurses (RNs) with the daily care of patients, including essential tasks like bathing, oral hygiene, feeding, and assisting with activity orders and ambulation. The CNA will also be responsible for measuring and documenting vital signs and patient data, accurately recording information in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR), and performing purposeful rounding. Participation in patient admission, transfer, and discharge processes, ensuring patient call lights are accessible and answered promptly, and collecting specimens are also key duties. The role requires maintaining stock for the nursing area, cleaning equipment, and performing patient positioning and transporting duties that involve lifting and pushing/pulling. Additional responsibilities include assisting with nutritional needs, maintaining skin integrity, providing special patient supplies, and potentially performing tasks such as removing IVs, providing post-mortem care, and bladder scans under RN direction. Adherence to infection prevention policies, including hand hygiene and aseptic procedures, is crucial. The position requires the ability to provide age-appropriate care, demonstrating knowledge of growth and development across the lifespan.
