About The Position

UTMB is accepting applications for our Certified Nursing Assistant Apprenticeship Program, Cohort 17. This program offers full-time employment and benefits as a Hospital Aide, with a minimum starting wage of $15/hour and progressive increases during the first year. Apprentices will receive paid on-the-job learning and classroom instruction approved by Texas Health and Human Services, along with a full year of mentorship from clinical instructors and experienced Patient Care Technicians. Upon successful completion of the training, apprentices will be promoted to Patient Care Technician and become eligible to register for the CNA exam.

Requirements

  • Age 18 or older
  • Ability to meet the physical requirements of the job, including prolonged standing and lifting more than 50 pounds
  • Full attendance is required during the first five weeks of the program; time off cannot be accommodated during this period.

Responsibilities

  • Complete all required classroom education, hands-on skills training, and clinical experience during the first five weeks.
  • Transition to the regular schedule for their assigned unit after successfully completing the initial training period.
  • Work typically three 12-hour shifts per week after the initial training period.
  • Adhere to weekend and scheduling requirements that may vary depending on the assigned unit.
