Provides patient care as assigned and per routine as defined by educational scope, according to standards of care, shift routines, and policies and procedures. Answers call lights in a timely and appropriate manner. Documents care provided according to standards. Maintains a clean work and patient environment. Maintains supplies, including scanning, stocking and ordering new supplies and disposing of expired or damaged supplies. Floats to various units based on identified patient care needs. Participates in department or unit performance improvement activities. Training/precepting new partners in collaboration with unit educator. Specific duties include Blood Glucose Monitoring (BGM) with lab personnel, bladder scanning procedure and training, attaching patient to remote telemetry or bedside cardiac monitor, managing and reporting collection devices (Colostomy, ileostomy or other fecal management systems), indwelling catheters, nasogastric tubes to suction, surgical drains under direction of supervising RN, competent in completing vital signs (manual process for blood pressure and required reporting of abnormal values to supervising RN), and discontinuing invasive devices under the direction of the supervising RN (Indwelling (Foley) catheters, Nasogastric tubes, Peripherally inserted intravenous catheters, Similar devices as appropriate).
