About The Position

Sarasota Memorial Hospital is hosting a Summer CNA & Tech Hiring Event on Thursday, July 23, 2026, by appointment only. This event offers a fast-track opportunity for candidates to participate in speed interviews with hiring managers and connect with the Talent Acquisition team. The event focuses on candidates interested in night shift opportunities and features multiple career opportunities across various clinical areas, including Critical Care/Trauma, Med/Surg, Cardiac, Oncology, Behavioral Health, Respiratory, and Neuroscience. Attendees must bring 6 printed resumes and have a confirmed appointment to be admitted. Positions available include Patient Care Technicians, Multi Skilled Technicians, and OR Technicians. The event is an opportunity to become part of a leading healthcare provider in Sarasota.

Requirements

  • Florida licensure as Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Emergency Medical Technician (EMT); Paramedic, or a military corpsman; or National licensure as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), which must be maintained active during employment.
  • Nursing students who are eligible for CNA exam are required to: currently be enrolled in or a graduate of an accredited school of Nursing (RN/LPN); if enrolled, have completed the first semester of clinical for ASN/BSN degree or completion of first trimester for LPN; and cannot be currently licensed in the U.S. as a RN or LPN.
  • Patient Care Technician (PCT) or Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Certification: Provide certification of successful completion of a Florida State Board approved program and successfully obtain a Florida CNA license within 120 days of graduation.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Must bring 6 printed resumes.
  • Must have an appointment before attending.
  • Must include current resume and complete the on-line application when applying.

Nice To Haves

  • Basic Life Support/CPR (BLS) certification is preferred educationally and required for the role.

Responsibilities

  • Perform tasks supportive to the delivery of patient care in assigned departments under the direction of a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse.
  • Assist patients with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, mobility, and toileting.
  • Take vital signs, monitor intake and output, perform glucose checks, and foley care.
  • Ensure patient safety and assist patients in participating in therapy sessions.
  • Collaborate with nurses and therapists to report changes in patient condition.
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment.
  • Support the overall rehabilitation plan of care.
  • Watch cardiac monitors for all patients on the unit and notify the nurse if a rhythm changes (for Multi-Skilled Technicians).
  • Answer patients’ call lights, complete consultation calls, manage the unit phone, and assist in paperwork for the shift (for Multi-Skilled Technicians).
  • Perform delegated skills of daily living that are within those functions limited by law to unlicensed nursing personnel.
