Nurse Practitioner (CNP)
About The Position
Lighthouse Youth & Family Services is seeking a PRN Certified Nurse Practitioner (CNP) to provide high-quality psychiatric care and support to young people on their journey toward wellness. This role involves assessing emotional status, prescribing psychotropic medication, obtaining patient history, conducting assessments, ordering tests, diagnosing illnesses, prescribing medicines, outlining and monitoring treatment, and consulting with the treatment team. The CNP will also assist patients in managing chronic conditions, promote health and wellness, ensure accurate medical records, manage prior authorizations, and arrange further medical attention when necessary. This position requires expert knowledge and adherence to HIPAA standards for medical records.
Requirements
- Active Ohio CNP licensure with certification to prescribe medications
Nice To Haves
- 2 years of related experience, psychiatric experience
- Experience with youth within a psychiatric clinic
- Knowledge of, or willingness to learn and apply, trauma informed care principles
- Bilingual and/or Sign Language proficiency
Responsibilities
- Oversight of and provide psychiatric support and basic medical care to clients including assessing their emotional status and prescribing psychotropic medication within scope of practice and in collaboration with the Treatment Team.
- Obtains patient history, conducts patient assessments, orders tests and scans, and diagnoses illnesses.
- Prescribes medicines and outlines and monitors courses of treatment.
- Consults and partners with the treatment team in the development of care plans.
- Assists patients in the management of chronic conditions and promotes health and wellness.
- Monitors and ensures accuracy of patient medical records.
- Handles the most complex issues, possessing expert knowledge of subject matter.
- Ensures that all medical records are secured and handled in a manner consistent with HIPAA standards.
- Manages Prior Authorizations and arranges further medical attention when necessary.
