Requirements

  • If Nurse Practitioner - Master's Degree in Nursing.
  • Certified as a Nurse Practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) and equivalent body.
  • Currently licensed in the state of Georgia and/or South Carolina (depending on job location) as an advanced practice nurse by the State's Board of Nursing.
  • Advanced Certification in the specialized area if required.
  • Current American Heart Association or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS).
  • Must be fully credentialed by AUHS Credentialing Office to work.
  • OR If Physician's Assistant - Graduated from an accredited Physician's Assistant program.
  • Certified as a Physician Assistant by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
  • Currently licensed in the state of Georgia and/or South Carolina (depending on job location) to practice medicine through the State's Composite Medical Board.
  • Must maintain status as a certified PA, including completion of all requirements for continuing medical education and re-cert.
  • Advanced Certification in the specialized area if required.
  • Current American Heart Association or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS).
  • Must be fully credentialed by AUHS Credentialing Office

Responsibilities

  • Functions as an integral part of the healthcare team.
  • Serves various roles, including working directly alongside faculty and staff.
  • Providing care to the entire spectrum of patient acuity levels.
  • Working semi-autonomously and serving as a provider to initiate appropriate care, including laboratory studies and/or imaging as indicated, at the front end of a patient's visit.
