About The Position

Works collaboratively with primary care physicians within the clinic and OB to provide quality patient care. The CMW is responsible for providing care to women and babies during the antenatal, intranasal, and postnatal periods from time to time. Midwives provide high quality, culturally sensitive care during labor. They conduct a clean, safe delivery; give care to the newborn, and manage/refer emergencies effectively to prevent maternal and neonatal mortality and morbidity. The duties of the Midlevel Provider cannot be rigidly defined, but the following description characterizes common expectations of the position. The primary responsibilities may not be interpreted to prohibit functions not specifically identified.

Requirements

  • Graduate of a Masters of Nursing Program
  • Successful completion of certifications
  • Current licensure in the state of Iowa as an Advanced Practice Nurse.
  • Graduate of an accredited professional nursing program required.
  • Completion of a nurse-midwifery education program accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Midwife Education (ACME)
  • Current active certification by the American Midwifery Certification Board (AMCB) or its predecessor the American College of Nurse Midwives Certification Council.
  • Current active license to practice as a nurse midwife in the State of Iowa by the Iowa Board of Nursing.
  • Three years' experience as a registered nurse in a clinical area required.
  • Attain privileges for delegated medical functions.
  • Graduate of a Masters Prepared Nurse Practitioners/Physician Assistant program
  • Demonstrated competence in a clinical setting for 3 years is required
  • ARNP/PA experience is required, experience can be as a nurse or related
  • Must maintain a current license to practice in the state of Iowa as a Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant
  • National Certification is required
  • Must have demonstrated competence in ACLS.
  • Current certification in Neonatal Resuscitation (NRP).
  • Successful EFM Certification by NCC or PQF.
  • Maintain EFM Certification.

Nice To Haves

  • Demonstrated competency as an ARNP through previous experience is preferred
  • AOCN certification (NP) preferred.
  • PALS Certification preferred.
