The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) is an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse who is licensed as a Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) and has been prepared with the appropriate graduate level education and authorized to practice and prescribe as such. The CNM may provide a full range of primary care health women’s health services, including but not limited to pregnancy care, menopause care, annual gynecological care, and as directed by their state designated scope of practice. A Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) will provide support and guidance throughout the birthing process from prenatal care to post-partum care by monitoring the physical, emotional, and mental state of the mom throughout entire process and are integral at ensuring the safety of the baby. If practicing in a hospital setting, the delineation of privileges will also define their scope.
