About The Position

Our affiliate, UWH of the Carolinas, is seeking a Certified Nurse Midwife to join their prestigious Women's Health Care Center in Columbia, SC. This position is ideal for a nurse midwife who thrives in a hospital environment, values collaborative care, and is committed to providing safe, patient-centered support throughout labor, delivery, and the postpartum period. This is a strong opportunity for someone who wants to join an excellent and growing practice working with a great hospital system. Looking for an experienced certified nurse midwife who wants to focus their career on performing deliveries in a hospital focused position. The practice consists of 11 OB/GYN generalist physicians, 15 laborist physicians, and 7 advanced practice providers. The hospital is Medical University of South Carolina Northeast Campus Hospital in Columbia. Support includes strong administrative staff, nurse, and medical assistants.

Requirements

  • AMCB Certified Nurse-Midwife
  • Graduate of a nurse-midwifery education program accredited by ACNM Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education (ACME)
  • Master's degree in Nursing (MS/MSN)
  • Active and unrestricted state registered nurse (RN) license
  • CPR and NALS Certification
  • Current Unrestricted DEA License or ability to obtain
  • One year or more of full-time experience as certified nurse midwife is required

Nice To Haves

  • Labor & Delivery experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide coverage on Labor & Delivery unit and perform deliveries while practice physicians are in OR.
  • Perform obstetric triage and respond to urgent maternal concerns.
  • Collaborate closely with OB/GYN physicians, nursing staff, and hospital personnel.
  • Document patient care in compliance with clinical and regulatory standards.
  • Collaborate closely with other OB/GYN providers, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals when delivering care.
  • Support continuity of care for established practice patients.
  • Follow all practice protocols, hospital policies, and applicable professional standards.
