This role involves providing comprehensive care to obstetrical patients throughout their pregnancy, labor, delivery, and postpartum period. The Certified Nurse Midwife will conduct initial examinations, participate in antenatal evaluations, monitor patient progress, and provide instruction on prenatal health practices. They will collaborate with Obstetricians and staff to ensure adherence to established practices, provide support during labor, and perform postpartum examinations. The role also includes managing deviations from standard care, arranging for Obstetrician consultation when necessary, and participating in discharge planning. Additionally, the position involves assisting Obstetricians during C-sections, maintaining patient records, conducting educational classes for patients and families, and potentially directing other workers or instructing in midwifery training programs. Participation in departmental performance improvement activities is also expected.
