About The Position

Assists resident with activities of daily living, including grooming, bathing, eating, toileting, mobility, etc. Provides simple technical nursing services under the direction and supervision of the licensed nurses (RN and/or LPN). Administers medications and treatments as prescribed by the resident’s physician.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must have current CPR, First Aid and Hawaii CNA certification.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English to facilitate proper communication with others
  • Must have knowledge of medical terminology
  • Must be able to provide physical and emotional care to the aged and disabled
  • Demonstrates autonomy, organization, assertiveness, flexibility and cooperation in performing job responsibilities.

Nice To Haves

  • At least 1 year experience in long term care preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Administers medications and treatments as prescribed and accurately documents administration, effectiveness, and any adverse reactions.
  • Observes residents and promptly reports changes in condition, medication reactions, errors, or unusual findings to the appropriate nurse/supervisor and physician.
  • Stores and orders medications and supplies according to established policies.
  • Arrives on time, participates in shift handoff, reviews resident schedules, and ensures continuity of care.
  • Assists residents with activities of daily living, including bathing, toileting, grooming, oral/denture care, dressing, and personal comfort.
  • Makes beds, changes linens, maintains resident rooms, and assists with unit cleanliness.
  • Assists with meals, monitors and records food and fluid intake, provides nourishment and hydration, and reports poor intake.
  • Assists residents with toileting and incontinence care while maintaining cleanliness and dignity.
  • Prepares and accompanies residents for appointments, tests, treatments, activities, and therapies as directed.
  • Assists with admissions, transfers, and discharges; obtains vital signs, measures intake/output, collects specimens, and assists nurses with treatments and basic care.
  • Provides safe mobility assistance, including ambulation, transfers, lifts, range-of-motion, and restorative care.
  • Follows proper infection-control, handwashing, glove use, and safety procedures.
  • Documents all care provided accurately and maintains confidentiality of resident information.
  • Assists with clerical duties, answers call lights promptly, and performs errands as directed.
  • Ensures the safety, comfort, and well-being of residents.
  • Attends required training and maintains current physical examination and TB clearance as required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required.
