Every lesson you teach, every skill you demonstrate, and every student you mentor helps prepare compassionate, competent healthcare professionals who will go on to care for patients in hospitals, nursing homes, rehabilitation centers, assisted living facilities, and other healthcare settings throughout our communities. As a CNA Instructor, you will provide high-quality classroom, laboratory, and hands-on clinical instruction that prepares students for New York State CNA certification while instilling professionalism, confidence, accountability, and a passion for caring for others.

Requirements

  • Current New York State Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) – Required (non-negotiable)
  • Minimum of two years of experience working as a CNA, LPN, or in a related healthcare field.
  • Experience teaching, mentoring, or training others in a healthcare setting.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with diverse student populations.
  • Curriculum development and instructional planning experience.
  • Simulation-based or hands-on clinical teaching experience.
  • Previous experience preparing students for state certification examinations.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver engaging lesson plans that meet New York State CNA curriculum requirements.
  • Teach classroom, laboratory, and hands-on patient care skills.
  • Evaluate student performance and provide coaching and feedback to support student success.
  • Maintain accurate attendance, grading, and certification records.
  • Prepare students to successfully complete certification requirements and begin rewarding healthcare careers.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
  • Collaborate with fellow instructors and staff to ensure student success.
  • Incorporate current healthcare best practices and industry standards into instruction.
  • Serve as a mentor and positive role model for students as they develop both technical and professional skills.
