About The Position

Mountain View Hospital is looking for a Certified Nurse Assistant to join our team! This role provides direct patient care consistent with the unit’s standards of care. The CNA will meet the communication needs of the patient/family, departmental staff and medical staff. They will demonstrate basic computer knowledge, prepare and compile patient records, and initiate directions from physician and nursing staff. The position also involves participating in performance improvement and quality assurance activities, and maintaining regulatory agency requirements, nursing and hospital policies, procedures and standards. The CNA will demonstrate performance consistent with the mission, philosophy, and goals of the unit and organization; remain flexible to changing systems; demonstrate quality and effectiveness in work habits; and treat staff, physicians, patients, and families with consideration and respect.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Current Nurse’s Aide Certification (CNA) required.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Able to use a variety of medical devices including but not limited to; vital signs machines, glucometer, ABL 90, leg compression devices, and kpad machines.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous CNA experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Stocks patient rooms, unit carts, drawers, and storage rooms.
  • Communicates appropriately and clearly to Charge Nurse, nursing staff, and providers.
  • Communicates with other departments, as appropriate, to provide for an interdisciplinary approach to the patient’s needs.
  • Assists RNs and LPNs with patient care activities such as bathing, feeding, walking, changing positions, oral hygiene, newborn screenings/procedure, or other tasks requested.
  • Assist RNs and LPNs with patient room turnover.
  • Assists Labor or Postpartum Supervisor, Labor or Postpartum Educator, or Labor and Delivery Manager as requested.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Written and computer documentation meet current standards and policies. Documents in electronic medical record (EMR) accurately.
  • Able to perform vital signs on patients.
  • Emptying drains and foley bags and reporting results to assigned nurse. Keeps accurate intake and output.
