About The Position

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) provides direct care and support to residents under the direction of the Unit Manager or Charge Nurse. The CNA is responsible for promoting residents’ comfort, dignity, safety, and well-being while assisting with activities of daily living, maintaining a clean and supportive environment, and observing and reporting changes in residents’ conditions.

Requirements

  • Graduate of a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) program.
  • Current and active CNA certification in the State of California.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
  • Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide quality resident care while maintaining dignity, privacy, and resident rights.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and assist residents for extended periods.
  • Ability to safely use proper body mechanics and assistive equipment.
  • Ability to perform the physical duties associated with providing direct resident care.

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist residents with personal care needs, including grooming, hygiene, nutrition, activity, rest, and elimination, while maintaining safety, dignity, and respect.
  • Follow individualized care plans and assist with restorative nursing care as directed.
  • Monitor residents’ conditions and promptly report changes in behavior, appearance, physical ability, or other concerns to the Charge Nurse or Unit Manager.
  • Promote and protect residents’ rights, including the right to dignity, privacy, and freedom from abuse and unnecessary restraints.
  • Immediately report suspected abuse, neglect, or violations of resident rights to the Charge Nurse or appropriate personnel.
  • Communicate clearly and compassionately with residents, families, visitors, and members of the healthcare team.
  • Maintain confidentiality and safeguard information related to residents and their care.
  • Maintain a clean, comfortable, and safe resident environment, including appropriate ventilation, lighting, and furniture arrangements.
  • Perform non-clinical nursing procedures within the scope of CNA certification and under appropriate supervision.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and readiness of equipment and supplies and report repair or supply needs to the supervising nurse.
  • Respond promptly to call lights and emergencies and provide timely assistance.
  • Safely transport residents using appropriate equipment and proper body mechanics.
  • Assist residents with recreational, social, dining, and other activities as needed.
  • Recognize and respect each resident’s emotional, cultural, and spiritual needs.
  • Attend required training and maintain competency in the safe use of equipment, including lifts, shower chairs, and adjustable beds.
  • Follow all infection prevention and safety procedures, including proper hand hygiene and disposal of soiled materials.
  • Accurately document care provided in a timely, complete, and concise manner.
  • Accept assignment changes as needed to support quality resident care and operational needs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
