About The Position

The Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) – Acute Care (Med/Stroke Unit) position is a part-time, PRN role requiring 4 shifts in a 6-week schedule, working the Night Shift from 7 PM to 7 AM in Germantown, MD. Reporting to the Director of Acute Care, the CNA will provide bedside care to a diverse and acutely ill population within a collaborative environment at Holy Cross Health. The role focuses on delivering excellent patient care assistance under the supervision of a designated healthcare professional, aligning with the organization's mission to treat the whole person physically, emotionally, and spiritually, and supporting the mission of Trinity and Holy Cross Hospital.

Requirements

Current licensure by the Maryland State Board for Certified Nursing Assistant
High School Diploma or GED equivalent
BLS certification (issued through the American Heart Association)
Computer skills (internet, email, wireless phone, electronic health record) and technical skills (blood sugar, vital sign, and EKG machines)
Be physically able to pull, push, turn and position patients
Superb interpersonal, customer service and collaboration abilities
Ability to multi-task, organize and prioritize
Ability to work well with individuals and groups

Nice To Haves

At least one year of CNA experience in an acute care setting

Responsibilities

As delegated by a licensed nurse, performs essential duties appropriate to role while assisting with basic to complex patient care needs.
Participates in direct one-to-one patient observation to maintain a safe and therapeutic environment.
Assists the delegated care team in keeping detailed records, clear communication and working with patients and families.
May be assigned to function in either the Health Unit Coordinator (HUC) or Nursing Assistant role.
Reports pertinent information to the immediate supervisor; responds to inquiries or requests for information; and assists the immediate supervisor with tasks to support department operations.
