About The Position

CoxHealth is seeking a Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) or Nurse Assistant Trainee to join their team on the 900 East medical-surgical unit. This unit specializes in post-operative care for gastrointestinal (GI) and genitourinary (GU) surgical patients, and is recognized as a Center of Excellence for bariatric surgery. The unit has 30 beds with a mix of private and semi-private rooms. While telemetry or cardiac monitoring is not offered, the team focuses on high-quality, patient-centered care with an emphasis on collaboration and teamwork. The role involves providing basic patient care under the direction of nursing staff, including taking vital signs, bathing, dressing, moving patients, and changing linens. The CNA will also obtain information on patient condition and report any changes to the nursing staff. For qualified candidates, there is a sign-on bonus of up to $6,000, up to 40 hours of front-loaded Paid Time Off, a relocation bonus of up to $3,000, and a $3 shift differential. A career ladder is also available. The Nurse Assistant Training Program is for individuals seeking training as unlicensed assistive personnel, involving classroom and clinical learning environments. During clinical rotations, trainees will provide basic patient care under supervision and perform duties within their scope of practice. Upon completion of the training, a competency assessment will be administered.

Requirements

  • 3 months experience as a nursing assistant in an inpatient or long-term care setting, EMT, or Surgical Technologist in the past 3 years OR Completed an Unlicensed Assistive Personnel Program within the past 3 years OR Completed the “fundamentals of nursing” course with clinical in an accredited nursing program or practical nursing education program OR Must have Missouri CNA License OR Must have MO CNA Appendix AND MO CNA license must be obtained within 120 days of hire
  • BLS must be obtained within 90 days

  • Strong analytical/problem solving skills.

  • Is available for work on a consistent and timely basis
  • Conscientious, thorough, accurate, and reliable when performing and completing job tasks

Responsibilities

  • Functions within a classroom and clinical learning environment to obtain training as unlicensed assistive personnel.
  • While in the clinical learning environment, will provide basic patient care under direction and supervision of clinical educator and nursing staff.
  • During clinical rotation, may perform duties such as taking vitals, bathing, dressing, moving patients, changing linens and other duties within their scope of practice as directed.
  • While in clinical setting, obtains information on patient condition as requested by the nursing staff or clinical educator and reports any changes in patient condition.
