About The Position

University Home Care Inc is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Certified Nurse Assistant to join our team in Livonia, MI. As a hospice aide, you will provide essential support and care to patients in end-of-life settings, ensuring their comfort and dignity while supporting their families through challenging times. This role requires a caring individual who is attentive, patient-focused, and committed to delivering high-quality care. We are looking for a reliable Home Health Aide to perform non-medical personal care and household work. For example, you will give baths, change linens, fold laundry and perform other household tasks. In this role, you will be in direct contact with our clients and their families. You should be caring and compassionate to provide a nurturing environment for our clients’ well-being. You will have to become familiar with our client’s health issues and maintain a thorough understanding of their living conditions. We want to see a passion for providing excellent client service. Ultimately, the goal is to ensure that our clients receive the care they need from professional caregivers.

Requirements

  • Valid Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) certification.
  • Previous experience in hospice care or a similar healthcare setting preferred.
  • Compassionate and patient-centered approach.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a healthcare team.
  • Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to lift or move patients as required.
  • Previous experience as a home health aide preferred but not required
  • Access to reliable transportation
  • Current CPR (American Heart Association) Certification but not required
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check and provide references
  • Ability to think and work both independently and with direction
  • Must be respectful and compassionate with a good bedside manner
  • Knowledge of basic housekeeping
  • Driver's License (Preferred)
  • CNA State License (Required)

Nice To Haves

  • Arabic (not required but nice to have)

Responsibilities

  • Assist patients with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility.
  • Provide emotional support to patients and their families, promoting a comforting environment.
  • Monitor and report changes in patients’ conditions to nursing staff and healthcare providers.
  • Maintain patient hygiene and ensure a clean, safe environment.
  • Assist with light housekeeping duties related to patient care.
  • Adhere to all health and safety protocols and hospice care standards.
  • Document care provided and patient observations accurately and timely.
  • Assist clients with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing etc.
  • Maintain a safe environment for the client by keeping the home tidy and food stocked.
  • Assist with grocery shopping, household budgeting and scheduling errands.
  • Keep in regular contact with the client's family and health care provider(s).
  • Work with the family to ensure that the client's medical needs are being met.
  • Participate in required continuing education (CEU's).
  • Maintain accurate health and employee records.
