About The Position

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) and Patient Care Technician (PCT) works under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse and performs multi-skilled duties within the limits of their training and certification. The role supports the nursing team with patient care activities and related services that address patients’ personal needs, comfort, and safety. This is a PRN, as-needed position requiring availability for at least 12 hours bi-weekly, depending on departmental demands. Additional hours may be requested by the supervisor, and work hours may vary with unit needs.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).
• If certified, must be current on the Nurse Aide Registry.

Nice To Haves

• Completion of a CNA program within six months if not already certified.
• Current registration as a Certified Nurse Assistant in South Carolina.

Responsibilities

• Assist the nursing team with patient care activities and services related to patients’ personal needs, comfort, and safety.
• Assist patients with personal hygiene, dressing, and walking.
• Change bed linens.
• Assist with patient transportation to tests and procedures.
• Serve and collect food trays and provide between-meal nourishment when needed.
• Record temperature or vital signs under the direction of a nurse.
