About The Position

This position involves providing basic patient care under the direction of nursing staff. Responsibilities include taking vital signs, assisting with bathing, dressing, and patient mobility, changing linens, and performing other assigned duties. The role also requires obtaining information on patient condition as requested by nursing staff and reporting any changes. The job is located in the 800 Neuro-Ortho unit at CoxHealth South, a Level I Stroke and Trauma Center, which specializes in treating complex conditions like stroke, trauma, and neurosurgical cases. The unit has 26 beds and serves a diverse patient population aged 18 to 102. It is described as a fast-paced, dynamic environment with a strong culture of teamwork, compassion, and collaboration.

Requirements

3 months experience as a nursing assistant in an inpatient or long-term care setting, EMT, or Surgical Technologist in the past 3 years OR Completed an Unlicensed Assistive Personnel Program within the past 3 years OR Completed the “fundamentals of nursing” course with clinical in an accredited nursing program or practical nursing education program OR Must have Missouri CNA License OR Must have MO CNA Appendix AND MO CNA license must be obtained within 120 days of hire
BLS must be obtained within 90 days
Certified Nurse Assistant/Nurse Assistant

Responsibilities

Provide basic patient care under direction of nursing staff.
Perform duties such as take vitals, bathe, dress, move patients, change linens and other duties as assigned.
Obtains information on patient condition as requested by the nursing staff, and reports any changes in patient condition.
Functions within a classroom and clinical learning environment to obtain training as unlicensed assistive personnel.
While in the clinical learning environment, will provide basic patient care under direction and supervision of clinical educator and nursing staff.
During clinical rotation, may perform duties such as taking vitals, bathing, dressing, moving patients, changing linens and other duties within their scope of practice as directed.
While in clinical setting, obtains information on patient condition as requested by the nursing staff or clinical educator and reports any changes in patient condition.
At the end of the training, a competency assessment will be administered to validate learning.
