About The Position

The 4-West unit is a 35-bed Medical Surgical unit that provides individualized care to a diverse adult patient population. Nurses on this unit are experienced in caring for a wide variety of chronic and acute medical conditions and receive special training in renal patient care. Nurses collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and specialists in palliative care, cardiology, neurology, urology, oncology, and orthopedics. 4-West is a team-oriented unit focused on providing superior quality care and outstanding customer service. It is an ideal environment for nurses seeking to enhance their clinical expertise, time management, and critical thinking skills. Nurses on 4-West act as advocates for clients and their significant others to promote, maintain, or restore health. They also serve as mentors and role models for colleagues and students, and are committed to ongoing professional development.

Requirements

  • Completed Nurse Aide course and present Nurse Aide certification, or documented one-year experience as a Nurse Aide, or military training equivalent to a Nurse Aide.
  • Maintain a current BLS certification from American Heart Association.
  • Nursing student who has completed approximately one quarter of their licensed vocational nursing curriculum and clinical experience as evidenced by submission of transcripts and completed Nurse Aide Skill Validation Form.
  • Age specific knowledge is required when needed for appropriate patient care.

Nice To Haves

  • One year of previous/recent Nurse Aide experience preferred.
  • Has military training and experience equivalent to a nurse aide.

Responsibilities

  • Provide quality patient care adhering to safety practices and proper clinical documentation.
  • Quickly adjust to quality initiatives and change.
  • Contribute to the success of the nursing unit with specific strategic plans.
  • Attend staff meetings.
  • Engage in the development of the nursing profession.
  • Perform tasks involving specified services for patients delegated by a Licensed Nurse.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of organizational and nursing policies.
