About The Position

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) works under the delegated authority of a registered nurse to perform functions within their scope of practice, including CNA, Unit Coordinator, and Scrub Tech duties, under the supervision of a nurse for patients in the Women & Children Unit. This role involves assisting nurses in collecting data for nursing assessments, supporting departmental operations through communication and record-keeping, and maintaining a clean, safe work environment. The position also requires cross-training as a scrub tech in Labor & Delivery at the Silver Spring location.

Requirements

  • Current licensure by the Maryland State Board for Certified Nursing Assistant
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • BLS certification (issued through the American Heart Association)
  • Computer skills (internet, email, wireless phone, electronic health record)
  • Technical skills (blood sugar, vital sign, and EKG machines)
  • Physically able to pull, push, turn and position patients
  • Superb interpersonal, customer service and collaboration abilities
  • Ability to multi-task, organize and prioritize
  • Ability to work well with individuals and groups

Nice To Haves

  • At least one year of CNA experience in an acute care setting

Responsibilities

  • Perform nursing functions within the scope of practice under the delegated authority of a registered nurse.
  • Assist the nurse in collecting data for a nursing assessment.
  • Function in either the Health Unit Coordinator (HUC) or Nursing Assistant role.
  • Cross-train to be a scrub tech, involving training in L&D at the Silver Spring location.
  • Provide quality nursing care to patients.
  • Implement specific procedures and programs.
  • Coordinate work within the department and with other departments.
  • Support departmental operations by providing effective and timely communications when functioning in the HUC role.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, orderly work environment.
  • Maintain data and related records.
  • Perform clerical and other support services as directed.
  • Report pertinent information to the immediate supervisor.
  • Respond to inquiries or requests for information.
  • Assist the immediate supervisor with tasks to support department operations.
