About The Position

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) delivers and assists residents with daily needs, including personal care, preparation for activities and social programs, and routine activities in accordance with accepted standards of practice, applicable state and federal regulations, and licensing requirements. The CNA provides basic nursing care within the scope of nursing assistant responsibilities and performs basic nursing procedures under the direction of a licensed nurse supervisor. The position supports residents’ hygiene, activities of daily living, meals, hydration, mobility, comfort, and safety. The CNA responds to resident requests and call lights, monitors and documents resident information, follows care plans and infection-control procedures, and reports observations or needs to the nursing supervisor. The CNA also maintains resident rooms and care areas and protects confidential resident information. Duties and responsibilities may change or be assigned at any time, with or without notice.

Requirements

Must have valid certification in good standing.

Responsibilities

Provide personal hygiene assistance, including bedpan and urinal use, bathing, backrubs, shampoos, shaving, and help traveling to the bathroom.
Assist residents with activities of daily living, including meal service and feeding as necessary, ambulation, turning, and positioning.
Lift, position, and transport residents using beds, chairs, bathtubs, wheelchairs, lifts, and other means while following resident safety needs.
Help residents prepare for and travel to appointments, activities, and social programs.
Participate in meal service by serving and clearing meals and cleaning the dining room; position residents appropriately, ensure utensils are within reach, serve food trays, and assist with feeding as indicated.
Deliver and document morning, afternoon, and bedtime snacks and supplements, and provide hydration according to center policy.
Prepare equipment and assist nurses during resident treatments and examinations.
Check residents in the assigned section regularly, respond promptly to call lights, and address resident needs or report them to a supervisor as appropriate.
Monitor resident stability by checking vital signs and weight, testing urine, and recording intake and output.
Promote resident comfort, answer requests, transport residents, and report observations to the nursing supervisor.
Complete forms, reports, logs, and records documenting actions.
Protect confidential resident information and comply with professional standards, company policies and procedures, and federal, state, and local requirements.
Review care plans routinely for changes to residents’ care routines.
Participate in and receive nursing reports at the start of duty and during shift changes.
Make occupied and unoccupied beds, change linens, keep linens smooth, and handle linens according to infection-control guidelines.
Keep residents dry by changing gowns, clothing, and linens when wet or soiled, and assist residents with bowel and bladder functions.
Maintain cleanliness of resident units, bathing areas, treatment and supply rooms, workrooms, and linen closets; clean bedpans, urinals, commodes, basins, and bathtubs, and clean floors or spills as needed.
Provide post-mortem care as instructed.
Perform other duties and activities as assigned.
