About The Position

The Certified Nurse Aide/Caregiver provides direct personal care and related services to residents in the community according to documented, individualized service and care plans. Treats each resident with respect and dignity, recognizes individual needs and encourages independence. Certified to provide routine wellness services to residents in accordance with the established nursing care procedures and as directed by the supervisor.

Requirements

  • CPR Certified
  • Must complete a minimum of 12 hours per year of in-service education
  • Experience in geriatric nursing, emergency care, first-aid
  • Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position
  • Must possess the ability to work effectively with physicians, management, employees, and other outside contacts
  • Must be able to bend/stoop, climb, reach above shoulder level, kneel, balance, push, pull, squat, crouch, lift, carry, and move up to one hundred (100) pounds.

Nice To Haves

  • Training in the special needs of the cognitively impaired resident i.e., Alzheimer, and Dementia training

Responsibilities

  • Obtain vital signs, records and notifies the supervisor(s) of deviations per Individual Service Plan (ISP).
  • Provides assistance with personal hygiene (bathing, grooming, hair care, shaving and skin care), changing bed linens and making beds, toileting and incontinent care, nutritional and fluid intake, dressing, ambulation and transfers, positioning, and medication reminders.
  • Follows the resident's individual service plans as directed and daily task sheets developed for each resident.
  • Communicates with the appropriate supervisor about changes in the resident's status and/or the home situation.
  • Prepares resident progress notes and submits this documentation in a timely manner.
  • Assists the resident in maintaining a safe and clean environment.
  • Exhibits a caring and respectful attitude toward the resident engagement and participation.
  • Upholds confidentiality of residents and co-workers, HIPAA.
  • Attends bi-weekly in-service meetings and mandatory meetings.
  • Adheres to all community and company policies.
