Assists patients with activities of daily living, provides basic nursing care to non-acutely ill patients and assists in maintenance of a safe and clean environment under the direction and supervision of the registered nurse in charge of the team and/or unit. Demonstrates competency in providing basic nursing care that meets psychosocial and physical needs, communicating effectively with patients and staff, and performing other duties as assigned within the scope of practice. This includes assisting with admissions, transfers, and discharges, and providing age-appropriate care for pediatric, geriatric, and general patient populations. The role requires notifying licensed staff of observed changes in patient status, assisting with feeding and fluid balance, explaining care to patients and families, and performing treatments within the scope of practice. Effective communication with the team leader, co-workers, and physicians is essential, as is consulting with other departments for an interdisciplinary approach. The position emphasizes patient safety, supporting a culture of safety and quality, and demonstrating flexibility and organization under stressful situations. Responding to emergencies and treating patients and families with respect and dignity are key aspects of the role. The position also involves meeting documentation standards, managing equipment safely, and coordinating patient care under RN supervision. Adherence to professional requirements includes following the dress code, maintaining regulatory requirements, ensuring patient confidentiality, reporting to work on time, wearing identification, completing inservices and attending staff meetings, representing the organization professionally, and participating in performance improvement activities.
