About The Position

The Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) will meet all resident and assisted living needs by actively assisting (to the extent of cross training and certification) in all tasks to meet identified needs. This role involves clinical care, dining services, life enhancement activities, housekeeping, and laundry services. The position also requires maintaining a professional presence and engaging in professional development and adhering to safety and security protocols.

Requirements

  • Meets all state and local requirements for certification as a Certified Nurse Aide and Food Handling.
  • Commitment to person-centered and resident-directed care is essential.
  • Completion of cross training for household activities, household housekeeping, household laundry and household homemaking, including food service and food handling required.

Nice To Haves

  • High school graduate or GED preferred.
  • Minimum of one (1) year work experience in a long-term care environment preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Attending to personal hygiene and personal care needs of the residents of the assisted living, including psychosocial and safety needs.
  • Supporting residents in self care, and providing care as necessary for those unable to care for their own needs.
  • Following universal precautions, proper infection control, sanitation and safety standards of practice in all work and activities.
  • Observing residents closely, identifying changing needs and conditions at first indication, and reporting immediately to nursing or assisted living leadership as appropriate.
  • Consistently working with all assisted living team members, led by resident and family preference to meet the needs and desires of all assisted living residents.
  • Helping to prepare and serve appropriate snacks and meals.
  • Assisting residents in traveling to and from the dining area for meals and in properly storing and retrieving any assistance devices (walkers, wheelchairs, etc.) used in ambulation.
  • Assisting with food-related activities for the residents.
  • Assisting with the planning and organizing of social activities for individual residents, small groups and for the assisted living.
  • Continually seeking opportunities to support the social needs of all members of the assisted living through support, friendship and kindness.
  • Seeking opportunities throughout the day to facilitate spontaneous activities of resident choice and assisted living preference; accompanying residents in all activities of choice.
  • Continually seeking opportunities to share person interests and talents with members of the assisted living through both planned and spontaneous activities.
  • Maintaining clean spaces in the assisted living, including resident rooms and assisted living common spaces, as well as support spaces and equipment.
  • Maintaining supply of all materials to meet resident needs in the household.
  • Providing assistance to ensure residents’ personal laundry is maintained in quality condition.
  • Coordinating work with the assisted living team members to ensure the personal laundry needs of the residents are met within the staffing resources of the assisted living.
  • Maintaining professional presence when representing Trinity Woods nor; exhibiting degree of professionalism consistent with standards in performance, behavior, and appearance.
  • Maintaining confidentiality and privacy at all times according to policies and procedures; using discretion when discussing confidential matters.
  • Demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior with residents, families, co-workers, subordinates, supervisors, and other department staff.
  • Maintaining positive working relationships with management and co-workers; willingly following directions and requests as appropriate.
  • Exhibiting professional standards through appearance and demeanor.
  • Demonstrating a thorough knowledge of work assignments and performing in a manner to meet quality and timeliness objectives.
  • Demonstrating knowledge and understanding of policies and procedures; seeking clarification or interpretation from appropriate supervisor when needed.
  • Using tactful, diplomatic communication techniques in all relations with others.
  • Participating in in-services, projects, or committees as assigned.
  • Maintaining all certifications necessary for employment.
  • Demonstrating flexibility, open mindedness, and versatility in adjusting to changing environments and requirements as necessary.
  • Committing to continually improving his/her skills through participation in education opportunities whether offered on the job, within, or outside of the community, to increase knowledge of work-related issues.
  • Maintaining a current knowledge of federal, state and other regulations applicable to job.
  • Complying with Trinity Woods’ established safety rules and practices.
  • Complying with applicable safety policies and procedures as prescribed by the organization, as well as government regulations.
  • Reporting any potential safety hazard(s) immediately to supervisor or other appropriate personnel.
  • Reporting any injury of resident, visitor, or employee immediately to supervisor or other appropriate personnel.
