About The Position

This is a full-time position for a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU)/Telemetry department. The role involves providing specialized care for patients primarily diagnosed with respiratory failure and cardiac conditions in a 22-bed unit. The unit utilizes advanced cardiac monitoring technology and maintains a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5. The team includes RNs, CNAs, Telemetry Techs, and unit secretaries.

Requirements

  • Current listing as Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) with the state of North Carolina Division of Facility Services.
  • AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
  • Current Listing as a Certified Nursing Assistant with the state of North Carolina Division of Facility Services with no substantiated findings of abuse, neglect or misappropriation of property in a facility that provides Nursing Care.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • Telemetry Tech ONLY: Completion of a basic telemetry monitoring course and/or completion of competency training for basic arrhythmia interpretation may be required as determined by the department director.
  • Unit Secretary ONLY: Completion of training in basic unit secretary tasks (i.e., transcription of physician order, computer data entry, etc).

Responsibilities

  • Performs basic patient care activities as delegated and supervised by an RN, including monitoring vital signs, possibly taking blood glucose measurements, and recording intake and output.
  • Assists patients with tending to personal care and activities of daily living, including but not limited to bathing, grooming, eating, and ambulation.
  • Reports abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental, and emotional conditions to nursing staff.
  • Assists with keeping patient rooms and common areas stocked, clean and orderly.
