About The Position

This position involves assisting residents with loading and unloading from facility-approved vehicles, ensuring their safe transportation to medical appointments or other approved activities and outings. The role requires the ability to work with handicapped and elderly individuals, secure wheelchairs, and assist residents in and out of vehicles and buildings. Additionally, the CNA - Van Driver will support other departments by delivering and picking up work items while maintaining HIPAA guidelines, and will be responsible for the interior and exterior maintenance of facility vehicles, monitoring maintenance logs, and scheduling regular vehicle maintenance. All other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Ability to work with handicapped and the elderly
  • Good standing motor vehicle driving record, with no accidents or more than one moving violation in three years
  • Knowledge of the geographical area
  • Must possess, as a minimum, High School Diploma
  • Maintains TEXAS Driver License in good standing.
  • CNA license
  • Able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
  • Ability to be calm and level-headed in emergencies.
  • Well groomed, professional and possess ability to work harmoniously with other personnel.
  • Follows written and oral instructions.
  • Maintains patience, tact, cheerful disposition and enthusiasm, as well as ability to handle residents, staff, and visitors, based on whatever maturity level they are currently functioning.

Responsibilities

  • Assists residents with loading and unloading from facility approved-vehicles.
  • Ensures the safe transportation of residents to scheduled medical appointments or other approved activities, resident outings, etc.
  • Secures passengers’ wheelchairs to restraining devices to stabilize wheelchairs during trip.
  • Assists disabled and/or elderly residents in and out of vehicle and in and out of buildings and doctor’s offices when appropriate.
  • Assists all departments in the delivery and pick-up of other related work items, i.e., x-rays, pharmaceuticals, medical records, mail drop off, etc. All documents will be maintained within HIPPA guidelines.
  • Maintains the interior and exterior of facility vehicles to promote a safe and comfortable transport for the residents and project a positive image in the community.
  • Monitors vehicle maintenance logs and delivers vehicle for regularly scheduled maintenance such as oil changes, tire rotations, etc.
