About The Position

Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Emergency Services. This is a Full-Time position with a Day schedule, working 3x12 hour shifts from 7a-7p, including rotating weekends. Haywood Regional Medical Center, part of Lifepoint Health, is seeking a dedicated Emergency Services CNA to join their team. The role is within a dynamic 17-bed Emergency Department (ED) with a 1:4 nurse to patient ratio, serving an average daily volume of approximately 74 patients. The team includes RNs, CNAs, Paramedics, Secretaries, and Providers, fostering a collaborative environment. The department is known for its diverse patient experiences and holds chest pain accreditation.

Requirements

  • Current listing as Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) with the state of North Carolina Division of Facility Services.
  • AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
  • Current Listing as a Certified Nursing Assistant with the state of North Carolina Division of Facility Services with no substantiated findings of abuse, neglect or misappropriation of property in a facility that provides Nursing Care.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • Telemetry Tech ONLY: Completion of a basic telemetry monitoring course and/or completion of competency training for basic arrhythmia interpretation may be required as determined by the department director.
  • Unit Secretary ONLY: Completion of training in basic unit secretary tasks (i.e., transcription of physician order, computer data entry, etc).

Responsibilities

  • Performs basic patient care activities as delegated and supervised by an RN, including monitoring vital signs, possibly taking blood glucose measurements, and recording intake and output.
  • Assists patients with tending to personal care and activities of daily living, including but not limited to bathing, grooming, eating, and ambulation.
  • Reports abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental, and emotional conditions to nursing staff.
  • Assists with keeping patient rooms and common areas stocked, clean and orderly.
