About The Position

Asante is hiring a Certified Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) or Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) to perform clinical laboratory tests and procedures, interpret results, and report findings accurately to support physician diagnosis and treatment. The role is based at Asante Rogue Regional Medical Center in Medford, Oregon, a 378-bed regional referral and trauma center. The laboratory performs more than two million tests annually and supports specialties including chemistry, hematology, blood bank, cytology, microbiology, molecular diagnostics, and histology. Laboratory services support a wide range of clinical programs, including cardiovascular care, oncology, neonatal and general intensive care, and trauma care.

The laboratory uses Epic Beaker LIS and Beckman Coulter DxA 5000 automation, with DxC 700 AU chemistry and DxI 9000 immunoassay analyzers. Other systems include DxH 900 hematology analyzers, CellaVision digital cell morphology, Iris automated urinalysis, ACL TOP 750 coagulation analyzers, Ortho VISION blood bank analyzers, and BACTEC blood culture instrumentation. The laboratory is implementing the Abbott Alinity m molecular diagnostic platform, with go-live anticipated by the end of 2026. The laboratory participates in accreditation programs and is licensed under CLIA; it is CAP accredited and AABB certified.

The position is 1.0 FTE and full time, with day and swing shifts. Salary depends on relevant experience. MLT pay is $29.80–$40.99 per hour, with differentials of $1.62 for hours worked 3:00 p.m.–11:00 p.m., $3.00 for 11:00 p.m.–7:00 a.m., and $1.43 for weekends. MLS pay is $37.90–$52.12 per hour, with differentials of $1.96 for hours worked 3:00 p.m.–11:00 p.m., $4.25 for 11:00 p.m.–7:00 a.m., and $1.82 for weekends. External candidates may be eligible for relocation assistance.

Requirements

• For the MLT role: Associate’s degree in Clinical Laboratory is required.
• For the MLT role: Successful completion of a CAAHEP- or NAACLS-accredited MLT-C program, or completion of a 50-week military medical laboratory specialist program, is required.
• For the MLT role: Obtain Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) certification through the ASCP Board of Certification within 6 months of hire.
• For the MLS role: Bachelor’s degree in Laboratory Sciences or a related field, or equivalent in education, experience, and certification, is required.
• For the MLS role: Hold MLS certification (ASCP), MT certification (ASCP), equivalent certification (AMT, NCA, or military), or be eligible for MLS certification and obtain it within 6 months of hire.
• For the ARRMC Lab department only, an ASCP specialty certification may be considered in lieu of MLS certification.
• Ability to stand or walk, or lift, handle, and carry between 20 and 50 pounds as a regular part of work duties.

Nice To Haves

• For the MLT role: Bachelor’s degree in biological science is preferred.
• For the MLS role: Master’s degree in microbiology, clinical laboratory science, or a related field is preferred.
